OK-I know that I haven't updated in almost a year, so I thought I would start this one off with a big moment....
Lucy's first day of Kindergarten:
Timeline~
Sunday night, August 24th
(are we ever excited!)
- Eat Lucy's favorite dinner- Salmon (which she thinks is chicken) with spaghetti and red sauce
- Ice Cream Treat- we stop by and pick up her Kindergarten pal, Makenna, and head to Cold Stone Creamery. The girls get cotton candy with gummy bears on top.
- Shower and Jammie time
- Garrick and Courtney read her "Kindergarten Countdown" and "the Twelve Days of Kindergarten" books, talk about the lunch menu (Lucy is excited about the cafeteria- she thinks that is just like Luby's) and bus rules.
- Set the Princess alarm clock, turn on "stars" projection night light from alarm clock (we've been practicing for the past week...setting it to 7am. the other morning, she woke up and said, "that clock just keeps waking me up!"
- Kisses and lights out
- 1:45am- we hear movement. Look in Lucy's room and she's not there. More noises coming from Connally's room. Lucy obviously woke Connally up to play. Opened blinds to look for school bus. Garrick goes in and tells them to get back in bed.
Monday morning, August 25th
- Princess alarm clock goes off
- Slowly get out of bed, watch a little tv on the sofa
- Eat breakfast (Honey nut cheerios)
- Get dressed
- Pace around the house
- Pace around the house
- Look through front door about every 2 seconds
- Pace around the house
- Mommy shows Lucy her new coin purse, with lunch money (just in case the online payment didn't work correctly)
- Mommy shows Lucy what's in her backpack: blanket for rest time, spare clothes for school cubby, new pencil case
- Mommy puts a charm bracelet on Lucy for good luck (a charm that Lucy had previously picked out- heart with a key, on a ribbon tied around her wrist)
- out the door to take photos:
(and no body comment on Connally's mullett...she took scissors to her hair one day before her second birthday!)
- 7:15am
- Run to the bus stop to wait for Makenna
- Pace around the bus stop
(Connally starts in her "2 Year Old" class today, too!)
- Here comes Makenna
- Photo shoot
- Connally and Austin (Makenna's brother) a little confused of what all is going on
(monkey see, monkey do!) - Here comes the bus!!!!!
7:25am - Off we go
- Garrick and Connally drive Courtney and Carrie (Makenna's mom) to school to watch them get off the bus
- Carrie and Courtney pace around the front of the school waiting for the bus to arrive
- More pacing
- More pacing
- 8:10am
Lucy tells Courtney that she doesn't want her to follow her in the school (too bad, my little miss independent!)
- First grade friend that lives across the street, Abigail, finds Lucy as soon as she gets off the bus, takes her by the hand and points her to the Kindergarten Wing (Abigail...that moment will be forever engraved in my memory- thanks!)
8:20am - Lucy goes to room (Mrs. Seale,) puts her backpack in cubby, finds her seat, starts coloring (whew!)
- (mom is still not crying!)
- Makenna goes to her room
- Just before mom leaves, she hears the teacher say, "I love you, too, Lucy!"
We did it! Yippeee!
